Greetings Larry:
FYI
I had a real nice time with filter!!

I used the "Baldwin" replacement filter this time.
The only problem with the "Baldwin" is it is very high/tall.

The "Baldwin" filter requires only a 1/2in ratchet too remove the cap...No other special tool, It is a one piece unit w/filter attached.

As stated in the post, the wiring harness bracket got in the way,
The sending unit was in the way, as well as the resonator box, The heater hose had too be moved over also.

I kept, and put away the Old filter cap for safe keeping if I ever have too go back too a stock filter.

I'm sure the "Baldwin" filter is a great unit....But I think it was designed with the Pick-up's in mind.

But having said all this, I was still able too replace the filter in less then 1.5 hours, which beats the H... out of what the Dealer is asking for this job. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Good deal and make sure that heater hose is back in the right position. When I moved it I didn't move it back and the serpentine belt wore a hole thru the hose /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

As you found out it's not hard, just time consuming like anything else on these Vans. I also use a short section of twine to tie the rubber intake duct over to the driver's side so I can get better access to the filter and I just leave the string attached to the engine compartment side and stuff the excess around the coolant reservoir. Another thing I do when working in the engine compartment with the air box off is I take one of the plastic bags that our newspaper comes in and put that over the rubber duct to ensure that no dirt enters it or I don't accidently drop something down into it since that ducting to the turbo is even a bigger pain to remove /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

What difference am I missing from a '99 to an '03???????

I can change my filter in 15-20 minutes!!!!!!

I just pull the doghouse and go in the backway.

Even when I still had the resonator I could still "git-r-done" in about 30-40 minutes from the front end.

I gotta be missing something here!!!!!!

BTW......glad to hear you got the filter changed out.
I use the same style filter for mine and keep the old original cap under the drivers seat.
