ON EDIT... Sorry Mods, I see this section is no longer Engines/DRIVETRAINS. My bad. Please move to proper section. Thanks

Anyone have the full setup with the external filter? My question is what filter is the one they use for the extra filter? Looks like an import oil filter. I've got about 12K on it now and was gonna change it. SunCoast said if you run the truck hard or tow alot then 12K is when I should change it and well.... I do run my truck hard so, it's time. Any info would be great. There are no markings on it for a reference or there are none that I can see at it's location. Thanks again.....

I have it, but my truck is at Elite. Why don't you call Joe at Suncoast? They will know.

I would LOVE to talk to Joe again, but, he unfortunatly passed away last Dec. Posted my problem last night so if I don't hear an answer I guess I'll call them. I hate to bother them cause they're busy. The last thing they need is me calling about something like this. BUT, looks like I'm gonna have to call. Guess they're not many SunCoast owners in here. Hmmm..... sad.

I was told by Suncoast to use a Fram PH8a filter. LS

That big filter. I would think it would hang down enough that rocks could be an issue.

Hey Ralph.... how do you like your SRT-8 motor? I'm tempted to get rid of my truck for a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8. I'm not sure though. They're hard to find around here for a test drive. I heard they tend to run hot if run hard. Well.... the Jeep's are that is. Same as the 300? I just don't know how much I'd miss my truck that's all. Thanks for any input.

Thanks LS, I'll look into it.

1SickHarley, the SRT8 is a pretty bad a$$ car. Although, nowadays, it is not even at the top of the pile, even with 425HP. But, for pure acceleration, and decent handling, it is a lot easier to drive than my truck. To get close to this level of performance from the truck, I would have to beat on it continuously. I have the Mopar ehuast and CAi, bumps it to about 450HP, and still under warranty. Yes, it seems to run hot if you lean on it a lot, but it is also a good cruiser. I usually mind my own business, but every so often, someone requests a beating, and I oblige. The Jeep's are very fast off the line with 4wd, but the other srt8's run them down in the quarter. At anything but a dig, the Jeep's will lose. But don't get me wrong, those Jeep's are FAST! I have run them on the interstate, and while I can pull on them, it is not by a lot. None of these srt8's are light. The 3 cars are 4100+ and the Jeep is 4700. I like my 300 for the extra luxury. Definitely the most refined of the 4. It's a muscle car in a tuxedo. Anyway, you will definitely like it, and anything short of Red Race or so would have a hard time keeping up. I've seen 154......did I say that?

I suppose that depends on where you mounted it. On mine, the PH8A is still way up there. LS

Ralph,
Thanks for the info. I've been looking at the Hennessey Motorsports Turbo kit. It produces 620h.p. and 650 ft./lbs. torque. Pretty impressive numbers as well. The only thing that kit needs is a SunCoast tranny. They're doing their numbers on a stock tranny with an upgraded T.C. Don't know what they want for it but I think I can have my buddy make a better and cheaper kit. He did that 1453h.p., 1250ft./lbs Ford GT Twin Turbo so I think he might be able to do something for the 6.1L Hemi as well. I'm sure though you've drooled though the Hennessey website as I have. I've just heard that Henn. is very pricey for just decent work.

As far as Filters are concerend..... I doubt that filter would get damaged as high up on my frame as it sits.
