Question on gear vendors OD unit

I'm looking to pick up a used one. If it doesn't have the right electronics for my truck for the autodrive (automatic engage over 55 mph I think) or the lockout for 4X4 can't I just rig it up manually with a floor switch to engage it. Just let up on the go pedal, hit the switch and it engages, right? Doesn't it just use a 12V solenoid to engage? I know you're not supposed to run em locked in under 55 mph with an auto or in reverse or 4X4 obviously. Thanks!
