I have a 1999 F550 wrecker that belongs to a friend. He put LED taillights in the rear for visibility. The problem is now the blinker blinks fast because it doesn't see a light back there.

I am thinking I could put a resistor in light to "trick" the flasher into thinking there is a bulb there since a light bulb is basically a resistance circuit.

Anyone know what kind of value I need to put in? I am not sure what size to start with.

Not sure of the value but it will be a "healthy" resistor and they tend to get hot so placement is an issue.... The store that sold the lights should have told you that this would be required and should be able to supply it for you...

firemedic8104,

You should be able to correct the problem by replacing the stock flasher with an EP-27 electronic flasher instead of trying to add resistors. I bought mine at Autozone. I have LED's both front and rear and mine flash normally with that flasher.
