I finally got a chance to really put this Bean's van turbo to the test over the last couple of days.

The short story is absolutely no surge or stall under any load, speed, or elevation.

I was pulling my 4-horse GN empty one way and loaded coming back. 14K total going from 3000', over a 5000' pass, then down to sea level. 19K total coming back on the same road. All of the driving was done in the 60tow setting. It will build boost in any gear (except granny) and this turbo really responds well (read: quickly) with a load on it. EGT's were never an issue unless I tried to pull 6% grades in top gear, lol. If I kept the RPM's over 2200 EGT's never went over 1200* even at WOT. At WOT it would sustain 25 - 26 lbs. boost easily. For most hills it would only get to 12 - 15 lbs simply because I didn't need to step on it any harder to maintain speed, even up 6% grades. GOOD STUFF! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

For those of you that don't appreciate how much power these PSD's make, I was traveling with my father who was driving his 1987 6.9L F-250 + trailer for a total of 14K pounds. On the same hills that I just walked up he could only maintain 26 MPH! Diesels have come a long way and they make a bunch more power than they used to! Be happy with what you have! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
