I have a few questions for those who have this mod. I am considering purchasing one but still on the fence because I have not seen one live. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

1 – How long have you had your Racor CCV3550 and how do you like it?

2 – Not sure if the F250's have this hose or not, the Limited X's do. When installing the Racor CCV3550 did you run into a problem with the AC / heater line that comes off the driver’s side of the block and across the rear of the motor in to the firewall on the passenger side of the X. I am not really sure what type of solid line this, whether it is AC or heater, but it appears that the line may be in the way of installing this unit.

3 – Have you had any oil leaks since installing this unit? I have read on this website of possible problems caused by Racor in general due; some say the device causes increased crankcase pressure which lead to oil leaks with one's PSD motor.

4 – How many miles / hours between Racor CCV3550 filter changes are you averaging? I am into preventive maintenance and I want my engine to last!!! I am not looking to squeeze out the last little bit of my dirty filter because I am cheap. I'm looking for honest numbers. I heard a rumor that it could be around 5k.

I have had the CCV mod in place for almost a year now and it works very well but the vapor smell is annoying at times especially when parked, the motor idling, and in situations where we are outside by the rear of our X talking to friends, etc. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bleh.gif

Thanks for your help and honesty in advance!!!!!!!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

Sincerely,

-Mike

Try buying the RACOR 4500 and mount in it on the
frame under the drivers set. That is where I have
mine mounted. I get a 1/4 cup of oil out of mine
every month. Call Diesel Innovations and they can
fix you up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif

I have had the Racor 3550 set up for at least one filter change now, so at every other oil change, if my memory serves me, 8,000 miles. I developed a leak about 2 weeks after the filter change. I inquired the same questions you have but no one seemed to care to reply, so I'll be the good guy and offer input...during that filter replacement, I actually broke off the handle(due to big muscles) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif that you have to cock /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif over in order to remove the filter housing. The supplier replaced it, actually sent me a whole new kit. When I removed the assembly that mounts on top of the valve cover I noticed that a hold down screw was loose and oil was probably leaking at the O-ring directly underneath the assembly. Since the remove/replace my leak has disappeared. If and when you decide to purchase and install one, you'll know what I mean when you go through component identification. Here is another tip: If you have the Banks Big Head Actuator installed with the rod coupling extensions on that came with the Banks actuator, the Racor will not fit! You simply have to remove those extensions and you will have no problems. Carmyne

Ihave mine in place now for about 9 thousand miles, no leaks, stock motor. I plan on changing it with the oil at the 10,000 mark. I am worried about the potential leaks, but i dont see any yet. SOme say it happens with motors with mods. Maybe carnut will chime in. He has had more experience and experimentation with the unit.
