Radio not working sometimes

The problem is getting more common and I haven't been able to track it down. Sometimes when I turn my 03 f250 7.3 the radio, cd, or tape deck doesn't work. the clock doesn't light up unless I turn my lights on. I have tried to jog the gear selector lever (automatic), turned the truck off and on, jogged the ignition switch and no luck. Then I will be driving down the road and it will come on. Any ideas will be appreciated.

When this happens will the power windows work? There have been many posters that have had this happen, you won't have to look far down this fourm page to find it. Synopsis, many have tried and some think that they have fixed it but no one seems to have a fix that works every time. Mine will do the same thing occasionally, intermetently might be every day then it might be months before it does it again. Good luck.

Mine did it and I fixed it.

Under the hood, on top of the fender well, is a terminal. There is a power wire that connects there. I found that one of the connectors on the wires was broken and only making intermittent contact.

I put a new connector on and all is well.

Could you post a photo of the terminal and let us know the wire color or wire ID? Is that on the drivers side fender well? A photo would really help. Hope this is the fix for what is a common problem.

Relay?

I swapped the relays in the fuse box. There is one that is associated with the delayed accessories (radio fan windows etc) when you are starting the truck. I would try starting there. Swap it with another one or get a new one.

Here are the pics of the wires and the terminal.

The wires and terminal are on the drivers side fender well, directly on top. The terminal bolted to the fender well through the hole that you can see. This shot is straight down from the tymar filter.

As you can see, my terminal was corroded pretty bad so I elected to remove it and connect the wires directly.

Occasionally, yet very seldom, the radio and windows quit. I think there may be another break in the line somewhere.

My 03 did this, then my son opened the glove box one day and the radio went off closed the glove box and the radio came back on, so i unhooked the lite in the glove box. so far so good with my radio.

Mine would also shut off when you opened the glove box or opened the mirror cover on either visor. The draw from the lights definitely had something to do with it.

With mine, it always occurs immediately after starting. The power to the windows and radio will be off for a period of time then come back on. It has never gone off again once "on" Only after starting but not every time I start. The time period that the power is off seems to vary but I am not positive on that one. Maybe I will start timing it.

Has anyone had any luck? Mine is back to doing the same old thing except it is off 99% of the time now.

I messed around in the dash today with no luck but as soon as I was putting everything back together, the radio came on. It stayed on for a few minutes while I was buttoning every up but as soon as I started the truck, it shut off and hasn't come back on since.

I'm about ready to burn this truck down!!

Radio works when it wants to Help !!!

I have a 02 f350 7.3 the radio will not power on for days a time, and then it will turn on but every time it does the clock is set at 12:00 so it's loosing power. sometimes it will come on when I giggle the shifter handle. My widows work well no issues at all with that.
I would entertain any thoughts or suggestions.
