a couple days ago I started my truck and headed down the road. about 1/4 mile and the check engine light came on and it started running very rough? No fuel filter light on the dash, limped it home and let it idle for a few minets and it started running ok again. Changed the fuel filter was a little dirty but not jelled.
Yesterday I started it up drove 2 miles and let it idle for 1/2 hour and it ran fine. I shut it off for twenty minutes started it up and ran it two minutes and suddenly it started running rough again and the check engine light came on? Limped home and it acted like it wasn't running on all cylinders. parked it and let it idle then it started running ok for 2 minutes then rough again.
Today I had it plugged in and It woudn't start. lots of smoke but no go. seemed to fire a little but won't start. opened the fuel filter and it looks fine no waxy buildup or anything? I was going to give up and take it in but now I can't even get it on a trailer. I need to get this going as I am leaving on a snowmobile trip to Montana next week. Help!

what is the FPR screen and where is it located? do you attach the fuel pressure gauge on the side of the fuel filter housing "looks like a valve stem?"
Sorry I am still a diesel dummy. Thanks for your help!

pull your valve covers you probable have a short in the wires running to the injectors. if you want to be sure before pulling the valve covers unplug the wires going into the valve covers if you have oil in the plug thats where your short is

Yes you can use a tire guage on the dtem and check PSI
The FPR screen is on side of fuel canister in a gousing with 2 bolts. I will look for a pic for you.
