I have an 86 f-350 with the 6.9 that has a blown head gasket probley from being turbocharged which i might not put it back on to make it more reliable. So i'm going to pull the engine out to reseal the whole thing i already have the whole gasket kit from fel-pro,this is gonna be the first time to re-seal one, my question is there any trick to make certain gaskets seal better, like on a small block chevy you use gasket maker on the intake instead of the rubber pieces and putting gasket maker on the four corners where the oil pan seals by the mains is there anything like that to do?

If your taking the motor out and re-sealing it, you might want to just get some better head bolts and stick the turbo back on, and maybe turn the boost down a little if you can.

I agree, I would look into getting some head studs weather you are going to put the turbo back on or not. As for using silicone, maybe in some of the tight areas like corners that look like they have the potential to leak.
