I have a 1999 SRW F350 with the 10.5 rear axle. What years and models did ford use the D80 rear axle?? Did the super duty model F350 only use the D80 in DRW?? Did ford ever use a D80 in a SRW truck?? What are the width diffrences between the SRW axles and the DRW axles?? Im just researching my options for replacing the 10.5. Ive bsted the 10.5 to many times pulling the sled so I need some beef back there. Can anyone help me??

Thanks!

'99-up SuperDuty with PSD and DRW.

Yes, Ford put the Dana 80 in all '99-up F-350 DRWs with PSD engines. They also put a slightly different Dana 80 in all '99-'03 F-450 chassis cabs with 7.3L engines.

Ever? I don't know. But in a '99-up which is on topic in this forum? No.

The dually D80 will fit a SRW truck with single wheels with a couple minor modifications. You need the correct U-bolts and hardware, shorten the driveshaft slightly and rebend the short brake line on the drivers side. With single wheels the difference is barely noticeable, about an inch and a half on each side, I had to point it out to people for them to even notice. The springs, calipers and pretty much everything else is identical from the 250/350 SRW rears to the DRW. You can also get 3.73's for the D80 without changing the carrier, though that is as tall as the stock Ford carrier will go without a change. Sometimes I wish I had 3.55's.

Thanks for all the info. Now a few more questions. Any infrmation what spline the axles are and how big (diameter) they are?? How big (diameter) is the ring gear?? I know there are diffrent models of the D80 and I am looking for something real strongfor the puller. How do our D80's compare to the dodge D80's oe the GM rear axles?? Has anyone that pulls sleds broken the ford DRW D80?? Thanks for all the help.
