Went out yesterday morning, and discovered a puddle of diesel under my rear tank (drip...drip...drip....).

I'm wondering what options I have for a replacement tank. Are there any that are less prone to rust (plastic)? If not, is there anything I can do to help keep the new tank from rusting?

Use a same year bronco tank, same skid plate, longer bolts, and something to use as a bushing.

You will need to locate the spare tire somewhere too.

Where do you carry the spare tire at?

I throw one in the bed a couple of times a year for the trip to Traverse City. Other than that I rarely carry one. Just a plug kit and some spare air.

I'm thinking the Bronco tank is my best bet for a dual tank system. Since I rarely pull a heavy trailer, I am thinking of mounting the spare to the Ranch Hand front bumper replacement. As cold as this truck runs, I can't see it hurting engine temps much.

I can't get that link to come up - is it the current referent? Better yet, does anyone have a mirror of the instructions?

I carry mine HERE but I do not have the Bronco tank done yet. I just didn't have the factory carrier and, being the cheap son-of-a-gun I am, I took the freebie route.

I am thinking about getting a spare tire carrier for the bronco. That way it will carry and swing out of the way also. Best of all it makes it accessable.

Anybody heard of having a problem with galvanized tank interior and diesel fuel? Seems I recall seeing something on that a while back.

I did the plastic bronco tank install and it is not as simple as some make it sound. The fuel sending unit and lines will be kissing the bottom of the bed floor with stock mount straps and no body lift. I made a mount to space the tank down a bit (see my gallery).

I would consider this tank 38 gallon replacement tank and modify my own pickup tube.

Note that it is Ni-turne coated, not galvanized. Supposed to be a reaction between galvanizing and diesel fuel.
