1999 Powerstroke, Automatic Trans.
I just had my transmission completely rebuilt because it had 150k miles on it and I was having problems while towing, on a trip. It would not shift out of second gear and the reverse was gone. My trans guy rebuilt everything and even put in a new shift kit. For this thread, assume my trans guy is 100% legit.

After 90 miles of surface street driving, it drove great. Shifted firmer and a lot crisper. Now, it is doing the exact same thing as before. Since I can’t get a hold of him for the next week (he is out of town), and since the trans was rebuilt what do you think it might be? Sitting around the coffee pot this morning the word “Transmission Controller” came up.

Couple of questions as I too had the same issues you are experiencing:

1) Do you have a scanner to pull codes? I was throwing some gear ratio failure codes. This would help us see if you are raising any codes from the tranny.

2) Did you replace the torque convertor or use your original convertor?

3) When you replaced the transmission, did you replace the cooler or flush the cooler out?

3) Cooler was flushed and trany has not run hot per my pillar mounted gauge. Always in the green.

Okay 2 and 3 looks okay ... My next test would suggest that you venture on down to the local auto store and see if they have a scanner you can borrow or rent. My SES never lit either but I did throw some tranny codes which helped BTS narrow down the issue.

Fill out your sig, are you running any power chips or programmers?

Running a chip and tuner (Stacked) and have all the gauges/pods. I am always wathcing my temps.

Interesting that it is the KAM sensor (0603). Let me know what they say about the transmission or any other things that they find.

sounds as if the direct clutch pack not gettting applied. No reverse will almost rule out the possibility of an electrical issue. I would think either a valve is hung in the vb or the 2-3 accumulator control valve is hung.

If that is the issue, does that mean I need a new valve body? How much are those? Also, part of the rebuild was a "shift kit" and wouldn't that contain the VB?

You should probably wait until your trans guy come back. He will be the ONLY one that can tell you what he did.

He MAY even have a warranty fix.

exactly, we can only suggest whats wrong. Most shift kits will not address the control valvers in the accumulator. Your modded vbs like the FTVB and BTS will address this area.

Got the following error codes: po732 and p0733

What do they mean and how do I fix them?

Pull the accumulator out and make sure the little control valve for the 2-3 is not stuck, with the accumulator on a bench in front of you, wormtrail up, notch toward the top, the 2-3 control valve is the one on the bottom left. It should be all the way to the right in it at rest position, if its stuck then they did not do a good job. pm me if this is so and I'll get you fixed up.
