What is the cut off date for model years? May's issue of Diesel Power has an article on a recall of 6.0 psds manufactured from 9-29-03 thru 5-28-04. I'm pretty sure that covers the 04 model. Is there any chance these could be in an 03? Sounds like a flash "recal" starting in July.

Until 9-29-03 the 04 vehicles had 03 motors.

My sister-in-law has an early 2004 Excursion, manufatured November 2003 with a 2003 Power Stroke installed.
