Could you provide a little bit better explanation please. When you press on the GO pedal it's supposed to rev up. Do you mean that when you put it in gear it just revs and doesn't move? How high are the RPM's ? your Injector pump has a rev limiter (gov). There are lots of folks here with tons of knowledge, but it's hard to diagnose a "problem" with such a vague statement. Also if you could edit your signature so we know your truck and any mods, then you won't have to say each time.

BTW- Welcome to the Diesel Stop

everything is stock. the rpm's go to about 4000 and the battery light starts to flash. that happens when you gun it from a dead stand still and try to accelerate quickly.

Is it auto trans? if so is the OD light flashing when you gun it. Does it seem like the trans is "slipping" in gear?

Shouldn't go to 4000 anyways, the pump should be governed to 3300 unless someone has swapped out the governor springs with those from a 6.2/6.5L chevrolet pump.

It does sound like your transmission is slipping, or clutch if you have a manual transmission. Check your transmission fluid if automatic, check your clutch adjustment (if there is any, I'm not sure on these trucks since I have the auto). If the RPMs rise but the speed does not rise in direct proportion to it, you can bet that something in the driveline is slipping.

Check my photolink for the IP pics, the max rpm limiter is the rear adjustment screw on the Pax side of the IP. There is the idle speed in front and the RPM limiter behind it. Someone may have stupidly adjusted it out of range.

However does the engine sound like it is doing 4000 or could it be a bad RPM sensor..... I know when I've held mine on the RPM governor it is a bit scarey..
