Why would I have a remanufactured HPOP in my factory new truck?
Where the heck did you get a factory new 7.3L truck?? Are you in Australia?

This is the 7.3L forum, BTW.

I bought it new

I bought it new in 03 but had the HPOP literally explode and when I was taking it out today I saw the remanufactured sticker on it. I know its never been replaced so thats how it came from Ford.

AH! now I understand.

What's the time between manufacture and sale? Maybe it was the dealer's "Hangar Queen" for a while, and someone used the HPOP off it on another truck, then replaced it from parts stock after it arrived. :shrug03:

It may have failed coming off the production line and a reman was used as a replacement before being released to the selling dealer. It would have been covered under warranty just as an OE part would have been.

Is your 5 year/100,000 mile engine warranty still good or has it expired? Either way, you are very close. A dealer has the discretion to cover that failure under a "Policy" adjustment. It may not be the easiest thing to get but make all the noise you can.

The dealer DOES NOT have the discretion to cover this, as there is no more policy adjustments. When your warranty is up, it is up. Ford changed the policy on 10-1-08.

And "making all the noise you can" gets you nothing either. The people who are decent got the help, not the noise makers.

Thanks for the update on "policies." I got quite a bit of "policy" support for my fleet when I was in the business but the dealer I dealt with would not give any at all if I would not press him on it. You can "make noise" and still be civil and decent. I agree, the crap heads get what they deserve - nothing.
