Anybody do this to the front packs? Pro's/cons?
I realize as your springs compress, your main leaf becomes longer and pushes your variable shackle into a more critical angle, but a little shouldn't hurt. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
I've got plenty of capacity up front(truck sits level) and thought I might pull the lowest(shortest) leaf and let the pack relax just a bit(it may not even effect the empty/static ride other than the thickness of the leaf). My only reserve is axle Wrap. I'll be tuning to the sound of around 500hp /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif shortly and don't want any additional wrap issues when I hit the throttle in 4WD. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Comments/Thoughts?

Thanks, Trav

With dual shocks and 35" tires it isn't the front springs that are causing most of your grief. The rear springs could be "tuned" to help the ride.

What are your tires pressures? Empty with a DRW, I need only 35 psi in the rear (I use 45 psi) and about 45 psi in the front (I use 55 psi). Very comfy ride even with big roll bars etc. If I am towing, I air up to 55 psi rear and 65 psi front. No problems with max GCVW at those pressures. Take your truck through a scale and find out how much weight is typically on each axle. Then fill according to the Inflation Tables allowing a little extra for your typical payload.

I've done the chalk test and seem to be happy around 45/40 psi, front/back.
I've thought of trying something different in the back as well, but I like the weight capacity.
I'll hit the scales sometime soon and revisit tire pressures just for the sake of trying.
It'll have to wait till Jody is done tuning though, custom injectors aren't quite right yet.

Thanks,

Trav
