I lost the left wheel bearing on my truck and when it went it took out the axle shaft as well. The right hub is an original hub so it might as well be replaced too. It is going to run about $1000 - $1200 to repair the truck with stock parts. Do I stick with the stock ESOF or spend the cash on the Dynatrac? The truck has stock tire size and is mainly used to tow a 6500 lbs cargo trailer across the country. My only reason for thinking about the Dynatrac is that the bearing that just went out only lasted about 10,000 miles. It has been slinging grease for a while as it is all over the inside of the wheel. If you had to spend your money which option would you choose. $1000 on stock parts or $2000 on the Dynatrac?

I just replaced my DS hub- breakdown in $:
$160 hub (Carquest)
$100 hub seal, dust seal, ESOF yellow o-ring, and cap seal

Truck has 249K on the odo.

Seems that 1K in parts is a bit high IMO. Even one of the vendors sells a complete kit (hubs, seals, etc for the entire front end) for under $650.

If you're going to keep your truck for the long term, then the Dynatrac may be the better way to go- but to me, that's an awful lot of $$ at one time!

I'm am waiting for my hubs to die So I have a reason to spend the money on the Dynatrac kit, In the long run it's probably cheaper since you can service the bearing as needed. You will lose the auto-lock hub feature though.

dynatrac

I would get dyna trac system, I experienced over a year ago the rath of our stock hubs, after $1500 in replacing the hubs twice within a month and shop time I should have gone to dyna trac. You may lose your auto locking hubs but if you know your going into a place where possible snow or mud then lock them ahead of time.

my 2 cents
