It looks like it is time to replace my batteries, so I thought I would get some input from people that have have already been there, done that, but might wish they had done differently knowing what they know now. Should I just go to AutoZone and get their 8yr. batteries or get an Optima or Odyssey? Maybe even semi-truck batteries or add a third battery? Part numbers and sizes would be helpful, also. This is a great forum and I thank all of you guys who are always so helpful.

Look up your local Interstate Batteries dealer and tell him you want some 1100 amp blemishes. These are batteries that are either slightly used or have some sort of defect in the plastic housing. I bought 2 1100 amps for mine, the dealer load tested them for me before I took them, they put out 1000 amps for a minute or two, then he recharged and sent them with me. I think the total invoice for both batteries was around $50. I took in 2 old batteries for cores, but they don't necessarily have to be the same size.

Beats the heck out of $300 worth of batteries, and it fires right up everytime. If you're having starting troubles, check the condition of all of your cables and connections before you go changing high dollar items. You can take your starter down to your local automotive electrical repair shop and have them test it to rule that out, and the battery dealer might load test your old batteries to verify those.

I am using Exide AGM batteries. I love them. No corroding of terminals and they can be totally discharged up to 500 times and come back to life. 1000 ca and really spin the engine fast. They are quite spendy, but I really having to screw with battery acid, and they've been in there for three + yrs now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gifOkieGringo

Series 65, Sam's Club, Walmart, etc, under $60 each, 850CCA, replace every 40 months. Have good cables, good starter.

Determine if you want to buy, what you need ($)or what you want ($$$).

Check Costco too if you have one in your area. I picked up a pair of 1,100+ Amp 1,000 CCA batteries for my '93 there for around $60/each if I recall.

I'm running 2 group 31's, 1250 CCA top post in mine. They just barely fit into the stock battery cradles. I have run them for the last 5 years with no problems.

I'm running semi truck batteries (group 31? I dunno). 1,100CCA each. I've NEVER had any problem turning my truck over. I've even left my headlights on overnight by accident and it fired right up in the morning no problem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif Like arizhnt said, they barely fit in the stock trays, and barely clear the hood.
Got mine from a local truck repair shop for $60/piece.

I'm running a pair of the semi truck batteries as well.$63 each at Truck Pro, Work great. tight fit. they do have stud top terminals so you would have to change out the cable ends, I just made up a new set of 3/0 cables.Use the plastic terminal nuts that come with them on the hot terminal, it's mighty close to the hood, wouldn't want those touching on a big bump /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
