Whats out there. I'm looking for something that will last a little longer than the 130k this one did. Need to stay around the cost of the stock on which is around $700.

A rebuilt stock one for that price maybe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif, I'm not even sure that you can buy a new stock one from Ford for $700. Good Luck and watch Ebay.

I've got the local shop who quoted me $700 for the turbo and $700 for the labor. How hard would it be just to do it myself. I'm sure I can do it just time is something I don't have. I only run the evo in tow level and it's driven pretty easy. The reason I'm getting a new one is because it's leaking oil really bad from a seal I think. I'm not too sure what would cause a leaky seal. I'm starting to realize this truck had the hell beatten out of it by the previous owners so it wouldn't suprise me if they messed it up.

you had a post going in the engine/drivetrain right?

Diagnose your problem first before spending money you don't have. Take it to a shop and have them figure it out for you if you can't.

From what you've said in your other thread, My e-diagnosis is that your turbo is fine and you are leaking out of the ebpv.

When you blow a turbo up, you'll know what blew up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

$700 to install a stcok turbo? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif Man, that's a lot. Even I was able to install a turbo on my truck pretty easily. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif Took about 2 hours and an extra set of hands for about 20 minutes.

But as stated before, make sure that's the problem first.

How would I check he ebvp valve? I'm not 100% sure where it is on the turbo. Two hours thats it. I'll try to talk my dad into that. The thing is he just doesn't have time and it has to be ready for a camping trip for my little sister's class next week. I think it's the turbo because it just doesn't seem to have as much power as I remember. (I've been at college for the last few months and haven't drove it until last night.) I also thought I could hear a air coming from from that area while going through the mountains last night. I'm gonna check out the intercooler boots.

Anyone have experience with this one from Bean? It's the BDP stock rebuild with anti surge wheel.

Holy sh*t! Put the new turbo in yourself and save the $700. Goodness, that's a total rip off. You can do it, it's not difficult at all. There are some instructions on this site somewhere for taking the turbo off, but it's really just common sense. Take off air intake, y-pipe and connections, remove marmon clamp and detach y-collector (use a screw driver to help open clamps), unbolt and remove/replace turbo. When you remove the y-pipe put some clean rags over the screens so that no debris gets in there, just don't forget to remove the rags before re-assembling. Also, buy some PB Blaster and spray all the clamps and bolts down the night before, and about 30 minutes before starting the job.
