Road Armor bumper reinforcement brackets

I purchased two road armor bumpers, both stealth with titan II. They are for the '01 and '04 Excursion. When I went to install the reinforcement brackets, I couldn't because the front leaf springs attach right where the bracket would slide up behind the end of the frame where you attach the bumper. What is the solution to this? And also, when I went to tighten the bumper up (not using the reinforcement brackets) I barely tightened the bolts and they stripped out? I love the bumper, but are the other components less than adequate for the job?

road armor sucks, I know I have the rear one for the excursion that was made to handle carrying a 38" spare tire but I had to take it off before it broke the bumper. take them to a good fabrication shop and get them beefed up before you powder coat them
