"My" truck came in. Tux black, absolutely loaded. Sticker on drivers window say vehicle has 58 miles due to random pulling of the line and being road tested. No big deal right? You would think that they would keep the plastic on the seats. Drivers seat plastic off the "butt" part, back still on.
Well wouldn't you know it, there is what appears to be a rust stain on the passanger seat. Small slit in plastic wrap at the crack. Truck was locked, might be nothing, but 64K??? ***. I'm sure hope they don't give them to the workers to beat the piss out of, and bring them back.

Any thoughts?

I use to be one of the people that went to plants and drove vehicles. We did not do anything to them that would harm them in any way. They are never just given to workers to beat on.

A certain number of vehicles are driven every shift. Management at the plants drive a vehicle home most nights and write a report on it's performance. At launches and certain other times engineering goes to the plants to drive vehicles. That's what I used to do.

All of this is done to improve quality. I believe it's effective.

That is what I would expect, but I can't believe they managed to soil the seat in one day. Hopefully it will come out, but you would also expect that they probably, hopefully tried to clean it already. I should see the inside tomorrow, hopefully no big deal. I just find it careless and rude.

Every truck goes through a few different hands after it leaves the assembly plant yard. What you have on that truck happens to trucks and cars that reach a dealer with 2.1 miles on them and no factory test drive evaluation.

Turns out all is well. Got my xplan and $5250 in rebates (signed deal on April 2). Kinda worked out perfectly straddling the expriation of the rebates. Saw it cleaned up today in the sun. Tuxedo Black LWB and loaded. Picking it up Saturday.

Cheers

I think that you are very fortunate to get a truck that has been road tested at the plant. I was involved with road testing trucks when Ford built them in Canada in Oakville Ontario. Each truck went through a detailed 1 to 2 hour QA check, followed by a road test. The appropriate department managers were shown any defects found and obviously these were corrected before shipment. only a half dozen per day went through this detailed evaluation.

The only other testing that came close to this level of QA were the trucks destined for military use.

I wish my 2011 F-450 had gone through the testing, they would have caught the sealer skip in the pick up bed and the poor fit on the front bumper and repaired both, now the dealer will have to do the repairs.

When engineering came to drive trucks it was different. I was with Transmission Engineering, so all we looked at was transmission function. My drive evaluation was 20-30 minutes. I did about 15 vehicles a day.

I picked it up on Saturday. WOW, very happy. I was not that excited through the whole process, but when I got in it, was very impressed.

My 04 6.0 was good to me, never had a problem, had low miles, and was sad to see her go, but I am really impressed with this truck.

Thanks All
