I have a 2005 F-250 diesel. After a little mishap, the truck ended up rolling off the road onto its side for a few hours. Aside from the obvious body damage, I'm concerned about engine problems that may creep up later on. Is anyone aware of any potential issues I should watch out for after a truck lays on its side like that for 5 hours, the engine was shut off. Fluids leaking everywhere of course, but no damage to the engine compartment that I can see. Of course the engine has had its issues over the years, so I'm extra concerned. It was finally working before this.

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

I would want to clean it good, and give it the whole engine bay a good look, before starting. Check all fluid levels, don't forget power steering and master cylinder. Then checking for pinched or broken hoses and also wiring and grounds that may have been pinched. The radiator could be comprised too...and make sure the fan spins and doesn't rub on the shroud. Hopefully batteries stayed full too.

I would turn it over by hand for a few revolutions to make sure it did not hydrolock for some reason.

What Denny said. If you spin it with the starter, you could do significant damage if a cylinder is full of oil.

Otherwise, there shouldn't be issues. It'll probably smoke like a chimney, when first restarted, but should clear up quickly after running a bit.
