my dad has a 05 f350 with 135k when he purchased it and first start is always hard since he got the truck. It is common to crank 20-30 seconds before it will fire off. then it white/blue smokes forever, and it does not matter outside temp, plugged in or not, and weather it is 30 or 70 degrees out side. now he left the truck set since thanksgiving and went to get in it the other day and it did not want to start when it did for almost 15 min you could not touch the accel. pedel or the the truck would die. once it was warm it behaved wild on the road push the pedel down and it looks like the truck is on fire from behind little to no boost then instantly mid 30s on boost and it cleans up. This whole sitiation has now repeated itself four times all in a row. It will start good when the motor is hot. looking for something to guide him to look at. He has also reported that he has been adding water every once in a while. he claims to use about a quart of water every 300 miles lately and no sign of leaks. the moter is spot less, looks like it had just been installed when he got the truck.

thanks BTW He has since changed both fuel filters and cleaned the afe filter with no change to the behavior. he also has a banks six gun system on it and all of this is with it turned off, it only gets worse as you turn the chip setting up.

the rough starts is probably the injectors gone bad.. since u left it sitting you probably just blowing a lot of the gel and all the residue that was built from the period of time it sat from. these trucks should be driven 2 a week at least.. i run mine everyday for about 100 miles everyday and she treats me well.. yah ive had some problems but every truck has their faults.. your head gaskets could be goin bad or is a leaking egr cooler.. if your blowing blue smoke its a sign of a misfiring cylinder due to a faulty injectors.. white smoke is usually a sign of head gaskets or a bad egr.. if its an egr also replcae the hpop(high pressure oil pump) its better insurance to know that the truck will run.. and if you got the moeny and it is head gasktes do the studs thats my next thing im doin to my truck and i have a tuner.:ford:
