Who has some photos of the truck with RSK installed showing the overall look, how much the brackets show, and how you dealt with the bumper ? Radarman has good ones but he hasn't got any with the bumper on there.

Only one I have uploaded that has newest setup, I spaced bumper out 1.5 inches and then used the lower rubber valance off of an F150, you can't see the RSK at all. Only thing you notice is the shackles in the back.

Nice truck highfive! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif What size tires are you running? And by some of your pics, and your sig, I guess you made your RSK? Regardless, did you still move the front sprin support forward?

Thanks!

Thanks, yes i made the brackets and did move them forward for the SD springs. I am going to have a new set of plates cut on the laser and try to draw them up so I don't have to space the bumper at all but I don't know if there is enough room yet for sure or not. I don't want to jinx it but I scored a killer deal on a kingpin 60 to bolt in I just need to pick it up before he comes to his senses but I already paid him so it should be good as gold. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

High Five,
Did you make a set of drawings the those mounts and shackles?? How did you keep from moving the front bumper out as far as Cary's?? Cary's bumper seems to be out much farther than yours..... or is it my imagination?
If you have some drawings/specs. for the mounts and shackles will you post them??? I really like the looks of the front bumper!!!

A few minor things here and that can gain you some room with the spacing but may cause more problems for intercoolers and such so you have to plan for what you want.

I have drawings for the old plates but I am scrapping them and going with new ones to make everything fit better. I don't know exactly how cary ended up centering the axle but when I moved the bracket forward I did a couple of things to gain some room, by centering the axle about .5 to .75 inches back and by rotating the front bracket slightly to the front you gain some more and a slight notch on one side got it where it is but like I said I am going to make new brackets that will have an offset below the bumper bracket and bumper edge but also be wider to spread the load on the frame. Probably do them next month, I will take actual pics of the plates this time before they go on, I hope to be able to get rid of the bumper spacers completely but it doesn't bother me the way it is now it looks like the SD's do I think.

Oh yeah, on the shackles I used some factory ones at first but didn't like them and ended up going with shackles from sky, they will sell the pieces separately and the shackles are extremely stout and were only like $60.

High Five,
Please post the new ones when you get them done. Is there any way you could email a drawing of the old bracket?? Like to get any idea of what you did. You can pm to me if you'd like. Thanks!

Now you guys got me thinking about the front brackets...If a guy made up a set that mounted to the frame like the RSK kit with regular F350 leafs would, in other words no moving of the bumper mounts, then made the bracket like a bannana facing foreward to put the front of the spring under the bumper........darn wish I hadn't bought the SKY kit already......

you are correct! I see no reason (especially if you use 3/8 plate rather than 1/4) that you couldn't build brackets that pretty much bolt up like the rest but are formed in such a way as to leave room for the bumper not to be moved. It would be more work and more steel but to me its worth not having to move that bumper out there. If you have a ever seen many modern(boss, blizzard) snow plow brackets you could easily see how it could be done. I wish I were closer to making this project happen and I would start making my brackets but I have a few other things that need to be done first

Yeah, I had seen this kid I know(good kid does some nice custom suspension stuff for trucks that he thrashes on the dunes with) he has a 97 f250 reg cab psd that he put a dana 60 in and it rides on 38 swampers with 6 inch skyjacker springs and I noticed he had built his own RSK with some larger custom plates and it looked very stout and well done.

My new plates will look something like this, this is not to scale or refined in any way yet as to how they will actually be done up but you get the idea. I will reuse only existing holes I drilled for the old ones including the original shackle bolt hole used before the SD springs.

Ohhh man, I was thinking this was just going to be a nice semi bolt on..........now ya went and made me think. That is exactly what I was thinking, 4 purposes at once:

Accomodate longer SD springs

Raise truck

Reinforce weak frame extensions

Add tow / tiedown points

Oh one more, have the strength to have front reciever or winch

A couple of notes if you go about building your own setup-use at your own risk please.

You will notice the springs are wider than the frame, the extra width on the springs is all spaced towards the center of the truck and should be kept that way IMO.

Don't forget a spacer between the side plate and the hole for the original shackle bolt at the front of the frame if you are using that hole.
