Running Rough

I have a 1999 F-250 7.3 Diesel Crew Cab 4 x 4 Automatic. It has 467,000 miles on it and it runs like a top unless I let the fuel go below 1/4. When it ever gets down to 1/8 of a tank of fuel it acts like the engine is about to blow. It shakes vibrates and runs very bad. It actually makes you think that the engine has blown a piston or something. If I keep it over 1/4 it runs excellent. Has anyone experienced this with their truck? I thought I drained the fuel tank once and got rid of bad fuel but it must be something else.

Thanks

My issues were plugged screens in the mixing valve. There is a bypass nipple located at 1/4 tank which allows the fuelpump to still draw fuel should the screens plug up from gel or debris. The downside is it will suck air if the fuel level falls under 1/4 tank. When I took mine apart and examined it, I noticed the bypass nipple was deformed and staying open.
i have a 2002 f350 7.3 it runs rough randomly then it will fix itself engine comes on when it does it and then shuts off when its fine imy scanner pulls no codes with the light on i brought it and had it check with a better scanner and it was an IDM code i pulled the IDM out and it looks bran new and ideas anyone please?
I would "start a new thread" with your problems. The P1316 code requires you to perform an injector buzz test to retrieve the actual problem codes.
