No, because it can cause the engine to continue to get hotter and hotter because there is nothing to regulate the flow so that coolant in the radiator has a chance to cool. Or it could also cause the truck to run to cool in colder climates resulting in poor performance and mileage.

As stated above. If you remove the stat you will not direct coolant flow through the radiator.

While the gauge will read normal, you will actually over heat.
