I was in the process of ordering an f5 DP tuner for my '99 F250. I am ordering it from ITP diesel and was filling out their truck survey when I came across the questions that make me wonder if I should be ordering the chip yet? First off they want tire size, right now my truck is stock height with puny 245 tires. I plan on adding a 4" suspension and 35's in the very near future. Should I put that I have 35's? They also are asking about tranny mods. My tranny is on its way out and I plan on doing a BTS tranny and torque converter when it goes out. Will I need to get my chip re-flashed when I get the BTS? What about if I add other mods in the future? Does DP charge to update your tunes when I do future mods? Should I order my chip now and have it made for my planned tire size of 35's? Please help, I want this chip very badly but not sure if I should order it yet? Thanks for any help!

They will have to modify the programs when you change tranny and perhaps also with the suspension/wheel/tire changes. Yes it costs more money but not as much as the first time. What do you use your truck for? It might be cost effective to get your chip now with a couple of tunes and then have it reflashed later. Alternatively, read the thread about running one program and consider sending Jody the PCM to reflash to the program you will use the most.

Why don't you talk to DP-Tuner directly? Maybe he might suggest that he tunes it for all the mods and you run it incorrectly for a while till you get the wheels and trans in or you can run it and later change it again.

It doesn't cost that much for the reflashes- when I reflashed for the BTS VB, front pump mod, and TC it ran me $135 for all 7 programs to be done. And it'll have to be reflashed once I install the injectors in my sig /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif but well worth the $$$ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif I guess it really boils down to what you call " near future mods " within 4-6wks I'd wait but if it means longer then I'd go ahead and order the chip. And the programs would be all screwy if you tried to run it while it's programed for the mods that you don't have yet.
