Some WANKER (got a pretty good idea who it is) decided to sabotage my brothers 350 CC by dumping a gallon of water into one of his fuel tanks. Unfortunatley he ran the thing until it died before realizing what happened. Is there any way to purge the system and remove the water w/out taking it to a mechanic?

I got a couple of gallons at fuel station once. Called Ford they said to replace the fuel filter, I filled it with power service first. Then I took a cheap electric fuel pump and a long hose down the fill neck and pumped the water out of the tank into a clear bottle until I just got diesel coming out.

Ran the truck for a few minutes, drain the water seperator, repeat a few times. All has been well since.

Do not forget to change your oil. If water made it into the cylinders, then there's a good chance it's in your oil too. If you have a little pump, you can do as 9ENGEL suggests. Pump and drain everything. I would put some good additives into both the fuel and oil. Fill the fuel filter with straight additive so the injection pump and injectors get help immediately. May the justice be swift and firm.

He's doing all the prescribed methods for purging the system and with any luck he'll get it going. As for the culprits, they'll be dealt with in due time.

Thanks for the help and my advice to all of you is to install a set of locking gas caps to prevent some idiot from sabotaging your ride!

My locking caps went on the first time a fill went over $100.

Don't waste your money on locking caps

Locking caps aren't worth having, especially if you have a tool body or flat bed with exposed fillers. All it takes is a flat screwdriver to pop the top of the cap off. Takes just a second.

I had a battle with thieves stealing gas from my work trucks. At first, I did the locking gas caps only to have them broken the next night. Next, since it was two trucks with tool bodies, I parked them side by side with about 2" clearance between the tool bodies. They crawled under the truck and CUT THE FILL HOSE. That stuff is $10/ft! They finally stopped when I took a 15,000 volt neon transformer and made an electric fence about crotch high. A friend told me that some enterprizing theives just use a hammer and chisel on the tank.

All boils down to my brothers new girlfriend and her ex-husband, the ex already has johnny law and the lawyers pretty pissed at him. He'll get his soon enough when the Judge gives half this guys shat and his $500k house to my brother and his new girlfriend. After all, they are in Washington state and that's not the best place to get divorced (community property state)...trust me I know.

As for the 350CC, he drained the seperator, changed some filters and bled the system and it fired right up, can't kill those damn diesels. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

If he parks it in the same spot all the time you might want to look into getting some kind of security camera that can record. If he comes around again and does anything you have proof and then he can be hauled off to jail where he belongs.

I had a problem with someone egging my Cadillac ambulance in my fathers neighborhood. No idea who it was but there was one neighbor that was so pissed off it was even there (legally registered and insured) that he came over one time yelling and screaming so much about it that his mouth started bleeding.

To get his goat even more I told him I am also looking into getting a hearse. His response was "what the hell are you going to do that for", I told him I am going into business one will be used for life and one for death /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. He then stormed back across the street to his house.

From the first time it was egged I did not have the resources to get a video setup so I just put a sign in the side window and winshield saying "Smile your being video taped". Problem solved /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Purchase a small fuel transfer pump that runs on 12 volts. Push the intake tube into the bottom of the tank and draw out whatever is in the tank until you are drawing clear fuel with no water.
Then replace the fuel filter, drain the water from the fuel housing. Disconnect the fuel line where it comes into the filer housing and suck a gallon of fuel through the line.

Reconnect the fuel line, fill the filter housing with good fuel, then turn the ignition on, but don't start the engine. Wait five minutes and then try to start.

If it starts do not run it for more than 60 seconds, then shut it down, redrain the filter housing, replace the filter, refill the housing with fuel, and try to restart.

Good luck.

He usually keeps it in the garage but left it out once and look what happened. He also setup a 6 camera surveillence system to catch the fooktard doing any other vandalizing

You're more forgiving that I would have been. I'd have slept near the truck, out of sight, and shot the fools.

Well, given the law... I'd have had one pistol with blanks for warning purposes and another one loaded, just in case.

No tolerance for thieves.

Texas' gun laws are FAR more forgiving to the property or home owners. In fact, some of Texas' gun laws are over one hundred years old, not being modified for the times. I agree. I would like to have winged the criminal who messed with his truck, but here in CT, your better off letting the cops do your shooting. They are always found not guilty.
