Just got a set of Procomp mud tires in 285/75-16 and I got a spare set of Centerline wheels of two in 16x8 and two in 16x9.5. Any problem you think I might have putting the wider ones on the rear and go offroading? I like the old hotrod look so I am currently running 285 on 16x8 in front and 315 on 16x9.5 in the rear. I don't use 4x4 on hard top so I do not have any drive train problem. TIA.

Using different size wheels is not really a problem, however a LT285/75R16 is approved for 7.5-9" widths. Many people use that size tire on stock 7" wheels. Probably very few if any using that size tire offroad on wheels that are "too" wide.

The only problem could be if they have different backspacing (common on different width wheels) that might cause problems with your steering linkage or place the tires too far in/out of the wheel wells.

With your present setup, even though you say you don't run 4x4 on the street (why would you anyways) unless you just run in mud or other low traction surfaces it can still generate enough driveline bind when off-roading to cause damage. It commenly results in not being able to get out of 4WD but I have seen it bad enough to actually crack transmissions and transfer cases.
