I just bought the 2002 listed in my sig and the SCT X4 7015 works ok but the JMS 9617 EGT probe is having issue. I set it to the SCT EGT with Red Firewire but the temp is not accurate. Even running at 55 the EGTs are around 300 F and I know from my ohter 2 trucks this is not right!
I have not worked with the SCT tuners before and have read a lot about them but not found an answer to this issue. I prefer an actual gauge but since this truck had this already on it I will use it till I upgrade to the Hydra and Swamps injectors.
I got this for my son to drive but want the EGT gauge so he can watch his throttle.

Are you sure that you have the probe? Just asking because I know that the sct is able to display egt but you have to buy the probe to make it work.

Yes there is a probe. I cleaned the connection to the firewire module and the probe itself to the manifold. I found that there is possibly an issue in the metal braided cable from the pyro. I can move it and there is random readings from 1700 to 34. I think I need a new pyro cable.

Yes, it sounds like you need an new thermocouple. Maxing out to 1700 would usually indicate a bad ground or bad connection of some sort in the shielding.

The pyro seems to be the issue. I really do not like this SCT Programmer because there are not a way to set alarms. I have used the Edge CTS and loved it in the past before upgrading injectors to single shots and now use Hydra/Swamps and gauges.
I think if I am needing to replace the pyro ($150), might be a good time to switch programmers and start over. My 15 year old is driving this truck when he turns 16 and would really like to have an audible alarm on the pyro until he gets a feel for temps and driving.
Thank you for the help.

To me sct is better than edge. Never really was a edge fan.

The best for the 7.3 is to run custom tune. If you want an all in one (tune and display) i would highly recommend the infinity Dx from DP tuner. Justin can help you with that.

I know canned tunes are not preferred. I am just buying time until I need to replace injectors with single shots and will get custom tunes then. I just want a boost in performance and gauges for now.
I have used DP in the past to reflash my 96 pcm and have nothing but great things to say. Jody was really helpful and got me back on road quickly after an issue with bad PCM.

Yes, and with the Infinity you can set an audible and visbile alarm for your EGT gauge. Just one nice feature of it.

We can do your custom tunes when that time comes too.
