SCT x3 help

I lost my paperwork for my SCT x3. I hear it can monitor some parameters. Do i just plug it in as I am driving? Or do I need to hook it up to my laptop somehow?:dunno:

hook it up to the lap top to get all the updates and firmware set up. it is not switch on the fly but it takes like 6 min to install the tunes.
