Searchable archives?

When will the recently archived posts be searchable? Any ideas? Maybe if we all emailed Jason it would prod him along to add these to the search database. Naw, nobody deserves that.

[JFS? Just a thought. One of the advantages of running an obsolete OS (OS/2, in my case) is you get to pine after all the "latest" advances. But OS/2 has had JFS (for >2GB filesizes) for years, thought Linux did too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif]

Anyway, I came along here to complain on this very topic, and I see someone else has already elicited a response, so I can do no better than to say, "ditto".

Went to find info on "deep C6 pan", Google came up with a link to this thread (from Google's cache, of course) but because it's from the cache, I can't read any of the responses to that thread, and can't find the original in the archive -- due to the lack of search facility. ARRRGH!

So, there's probably an answer to my Q, but no easy way to find it at TDS.

Thanks for that workaround, as laborious as it is. Here's the thread I wanted.
The subject thread.

Your link is to the temporary archives. Those are still indexed, so they are still searchable.

You think so? Can you take a minute and write me up a step-by-step? I could find no way to search the "6.9l diesel" archives just prior to Feb-05.

How did you get there?

Google found one post -- and I used Google's cache to display it. However, it was displayed collapsed, so I couldn't use Google's cache to view the other posts in the thread.

You gave me the approximate page (14) of threads in which to find it on this site in the archived originals. Then I viewed the thread expanded, and copied out the URL for the lower frame -- this is simple using Mozilla, perhaps not for other browsers, I don't know as I don't use them.

Also if you're using google, and come up with the cached version, why don't you just click on the cached version link which will give you a crude but readable version from what google "Remembers".

Because Google would only give up the cached copy of a single post, and dead links to the rest of the thread. I spent only two minutes fighting with the URL to fake in enough parameters to try to create the correct links, before I decided the cursing at the darkness was going to be more productive than burning my fingers trying to light more candles.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
