I have a 95, 5 spd, 4X4 PSD with 120K miles. A few months ago my truck all of a sudden started shaking when I started it up, and then when I tried to limp it home it would barely go down the road (made me nervous so I had it towed the rest of the way home). Since then I have been on forum after forum, youtube video after video trying to figure this thing out. Below is what I have replaced/fixed and upgrades that were recently done.

TS 6 pos chip (chip was plugged in when running like crap, have unplugged it and still no change)
installed Boost gauge
installed EGT gauge
replaced fuel pump (had a fuel leak in the valley of the intake)
rebuilt fuel bowl/replaced fuel filter
replaced EBP sensor and tube
replaced ICP sensor
replaced glow plug relay
replaced under valve cover wire harnesses on both sides
installed Napa air filter (the big round one everyone uses)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The truck has pretty much always been taken cared of. My grandparents bought it new in 95 and it was a daily driver for the most part until my grandmother got arthritis real bad. As far as any towing/hauling it would occasionally pull a 5th wheel camper and a boat to the lake that was about 2 hours from their house.

Check Engine Light on? Oil level and type good? When it is running rough, does it seem to be on one side of the engine that is not firing? I would think it could be possibly the Injector Driver Module (IDM) although you should get a DTC for that. You could also have high pressure oil problems, but you would want to monitor ICP and IPR duty cycle while running before simply throwing parts at it. Cheers!

To check ipr duty cycle you need a ford compatible scan tool like AE. High pressure oil can either be monitored with scan tool which is your icp reading, or with a mechanical gauge which you would need to t into your high pressure oil system (up to 3000psi).

OK so... sorry haven't been on in a while, had a baby and haven't had time to mess with it.

After some more forum hopping I realized that there was oil in the HPOP that needed to be changed out as well when I do my oil changes, so I did that and added some prolong to it as well.

Now when I start it up it runs perfect for about 5-10 sec then it runs a little rough with the check engine light on. I purchased the AE ford enhancement and plugged it in today. I was able to do the buzz test and #7 sounded off but at the end of the scan the AE said everything passed. I wasn't able to figure out how to get the AE to read the DTC codes. I'm going to plug the AE in and try to monitor the ICP and IPR Duty cycle.

You need to get the codes if a CEL was on.

As for the oil in the HPOP if it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling then change it but it isn't necessary. That is the oil that feeds the injectors and after the injectors are done with the oil it goes back into the oil pan to be pumped back into the HPOP by the LPOP.

Contact AE. If the CE light is on, there's a code. Must be some setting issue (odd that you can do tests, though). AE support is supposedly pretty good on stuff like this.

Looks like somebody's been to PowerstrokeHelp.com. That dude's reputation is, er, not stellar. Yes, if you replace the oil in the HPO reservoir, that means you change one more quart than you would if you didn't. But contrary to what Bill says or implies, ALL the oil circulates through the engine, so the HP oil will NOT get "old" sitting up there. So yeah, you get a little cleaner oil with each oil change if you do it, but that's all.

And oil additives in a HEUI engine are a bad idea. The oil is formulated for high hydraulic pressure; who knows what that Prolong stuff does to that formulation. It's hard not to get the sense that Bill has a.... er.... non-trivial interest in Prolong, the way he hawks it.

Alright, I called AE and found out it was a settings issue. The code that popped up was P1211 and when I did the buzz test again the #7 injector still sounded bad but the AE said that the truck passed. When I tried to do the ICP and IPR duty cycle the ICP didn't get over 800 PSI and the IPR duty cycle didn't go over 38% as well as it took almost 1,000ft just to get to 35 MPH at full throttle. It wasn't running that sh*tty when it first started acting up. Again, any help would be appreciated!!!

I also wanted to add that the day all this started happening i was messing with the different settings on the TS chip that I had recently plugged into it. The highest I went on the dial was position 5 (stopped there cause I didn't really feel any difference between pos 4 and pos 5). When I got to where I was going the truck sat for about 4 hours and when I started it up that's when it started shaking badly and had the loss of power. Could I have screwed something up by turning the knob too high on the TS chip? If you guys need any other info from me to help narrow this all down let me know.
