Lately, my trans has been shifting very strangly. The only tranny mod I have is a FTVB. I love the firmness, but sometimes I get a shift flare, (rise in RPM) when going from the 3 to 4 shift, and lately it seems to be very erratic. Could this be something in the FTVB acting up, or maybe a solenoid in the trans? Also, I feel dumb for asking, but the dipstick on the trans has cold and hot ranges. Is this for checking the fluid level with the motor off, and them while running? I have always check auto trannys with the engine running, and with everything warmed up.

you always check ATF level with truck running after moving the Gear shift lever in reverse and drive for a few seconds each. The cold is for a cold transmission such as the start of the day and hot is for after you have driven around for a while (not up the street and back).

The shift flare issue may be fixable with custom programming. If not, then a BTS valve body may be in order instead.
