I'm seeing odd patchy tire wear on my LF tire, all others seem to be wearing pretty evenly. I've jacked up the wheel and tried turning it and yanking on it, all with no apparent issues of bearing smoothness, brake grab or suspension looseness.

I'm suspecting that the shock is failing (~50k mi) and I should probably replace the lot of them. The truck came with the "Rancho" shocks which I hear are not really "Rancho" shocks and are rather crappy. The truck does go off road regularly, though that off road is generally pretty mild fields and whatnot.

Is there any consensus on what are the best replacement shocks in the normal F350 6.4 4x4 DRW heavy duty category (i.e. no remote reservoir race shocks)? Or any thoughts on possible other causes for the odd wear on this one tire?

I'm really happy with the HD series Bilstein shocks that I recently installed in my dually. Much better ride quality and a firmer ride too. You did the check where you grab the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock (push one and pull the other)? That will tell you if you have ball joint or wheel bearing play.

I would have the alignment checked.

It maybe some shocks but usually you will have more of a boucy ride or more body roll I would imagine.

Changed all shocks at around 55000 on my 450. Did not have any noticeable problems, just figured they needed changing--they were the "Rancho" shocks. All 4 had no compression resistance nor rebound ability. Replaced with Bilsteins.

So it looks like the following Bilstein 5100 series will fit a stock F350 4x4 DRW:

Part Number: 24-186018
Old Part Number: F4-BE5-C335-H0

Part Number: 24-186025
Old Part Number: F4-BE5-C336-H0

This rather than the 4600 series since the cost difference is small and the yellow/blue thing aint' working for me.
