My Bilstein shocks arrived today from shockwarehouse. I noticed the blue rubber boot has a black tie wrap on the tube end to hold it snug on the shock. Should this tie wrap be removed during installation so the rubber boot hangs down? And the loose end of the boot points down after installed? Correct? Thanks

NO do NOT remove the tie that holds the boot in place.

the black tie should hold the boot in place around the (yellow)
portion of the shock. the boot (small end) is held/mounted to the
"bolt eye" end by a groove.

the purpose of the boot is to keep DUST out & off the
shock rod...the shocks mount upside down (boot down/label up)
the boots have a DRAIN hole...should water enter..the bilsteins
mount "upside down" compared to the FAKE rancho's from ford.

eshocks.com provides directions (and pictures) of the shocks
mounting boots & black/zip ties & how to PROPERLY mount the
shocks and boots.
