Should HVAC control in overhead console illuminate?

I forget if the heater/AC controls, in the front and rear, of my overhead console ever lit up. The front does not and I don't recall, if the rear set of controls light. 2000 Ex Limited.

I installed a couple 194 LL bulbs. I can see the controls now! Thanks.
