2008 F250 crew cab 4x4 1600 miles. average miles per gal 14.5 by hand.sometimes tranz slips, its like its not in gear and then you rev up the engine and slam it in gear. somtimes at take off, an somtimes just going down the road. has anybody had this problem.....????.other than that, I love the truck.

looks like you figured out how to post, you will get some people responding, lot of good helpful people here
Is the truck equipped with TCS? That could possibly be some of it.

The other thing that was explained to me is that the tranny has some kind of mode that protects itself from sudden loads from quick shifts etc. When I plow snow with mine sometimes I will get a shuddering if I try to go too fast between gears/directions.
tcs

no tcs that i know of I just took the truck to the dealer we will see what they say.
slipping trans???

i had a problem almost like yours,just purchased a 2008 f450 last week,
with 79 miles on it, a wrench light came on,i was cruising at 70mpg and it slammed it into 3rd gear and went into a limp mode.i took it to the dealer the next day-it turned out to be a transmission speed sensor.hope this helps.................

by the way 1st tank of fuel-getting 13.4 mpg..love it so far!!!!!
f450-
4.30 gear ratio-2wd
job 3
1500 miles on mine, and took it for a 650 mile trip this weekend, and noticed the same thing while driving around town while on/off/on again w/the gas, sometimes it slips. Please let us know what you find out, as i need to take mine in for leaky powersteering box or hydroboost (not sure). I got 14.5 this weekend on my trip w/average speed 70-75mpg, wasn't to unhappy considering it only has 1500 miles. At one point i was up in the 16's. The regen process sucks it down!
Any updates? Mine did it again today while driving around town, my 2-3 shift seems a bit weird at times too, does yours? Let me know, as i need to get mine checked out before it tears something up and i start using/pulling with it alot. Thanks!
my truck still in the shop will let you know if they ever finish....... i just talk to dealer they said trans. shifted lazy and they are replacing a solenoid in the trans...... hope its fixed well see
My 07 does the same thing. There is a TSB on this on the 07s on back. Sounds like the same issiue. Just an updated modual to replace.
I thought mine did that once. It hasn't done it again since. I just figured I hadn't put it into gear right.

If it does it again I'll bring it in. I've got 11K on it now.
Thanks for the update bmwinc, keep us posted, as my truck is at idle right now but soon will be going all day, day in/day out. After my last round w/ford on my 03 i have little confidence in my local service dept. so if i can go in w/some information from someone else who had the same problem, the more likely it will get fixed the 1ST TIME!
When mine did it that once I was pulling a trailer around the city in a hurry for a couple of hours. If a hot trans got something to do with it I may find out again Thur. May 1st as I've got to do the same run.
I wasn't an animal that day but I won't baby it Thur. at all.
My buddy had a similar problem and the dealer replaced the tranny
jholt- was that an 08 you are talking about?
bmwinc, you ever find anything out?? Gonna try and take mine in next week, was just wondering what they figured out, Thanks!
I did a trip last week again and the trans worked flawless. I guess I might of not had it in gear good the one time it slipped on me. But I'll keep my eye open when summer is here and I'm towing. The day it slipped on me it was warm. It has only slipped once in 12K now.
honda guy4 .....mines in the shop for tranny again..... the tranz gets confused on the gear its needs to be in,,, dealer said they need codes on computer to prove its bad.they burned $60.00 diesel last time they worked on it. i will get the run around again if i had to guess... the service manager told me drive it like you stole it, until it breaks an then they will fix it.
I took mine in last week and they reflashed it (still ford's magical cure all to all problems i see)! I will drive it for a bit and see what happens, but i am pretty sure their is something else going on. Like you said bmwinc, the tranny seems to forget what gear it should be in (typically the lower gears around town on my truck) sometimes and then when it does decide it either slips into gear or clunks into gear. We'll see what a little more time does, let me know if you come up with anything! Other than that absolutely love the truck, hate the mileage, but what can you do!
My job 2 with 3000 miles recently started to rev higher when normaly accelerating at lower speeds. seems like around 2nd gear. No clunking into gear more like a slipping tranny. And only an intermittant problem.
I stuck my 250 in the sand, only up to the tire/rim bead ~6 inches. I put in 4 high and it wouldn't even spin tire with foot to the floor. I put in 4 low and it took the foot to the floor to get them to move.
