I wiggles in every direction, wow. So i found two in florida used for around $250 with a 1 year warranty. So I'm looking for pro's and con's of buying used. Anyone here know of a cheaper site that sells them for less than $600. And does anyone have a link to the replacement procedure? i'll post a video later when it cools down. it sounds like ****. Anybody think a failed hpop that sent metal in the oil coild have caused this? I bought a sr1p and it took a **** also about 3k ago.1996 Ford F-250 Pickup Turbo(8 Cyl, 445 cid, 7.3L)(Tampa Or Ocala, Florida, 5VE96897T, Very Good, $254.90 )

Well, i'm stuck in kemmerer wyoming and their isn't anything here. i have every thing off except for the 4th pedestal bolt on driver side, which i have not attempted yet and the two 15mm bolts on studs at the exhaust flange. i tried to fit a regular 15mm wrench on the driver side and i just dont see how a stubby would work. Ford has to have a tool just for that set of bolts and i can't seem to find anything but home made shadetree mechanic techniches with home made tools. surely ford doesn't use a stubby and a pry bar. i wonder if a 15mm swivel socket would work. the only problem is, there are no tools in this town so i have to order everything. hell they don't even have a 8mm 12pt socket. I wonder if a 15mm half moon wrench would do it? No hurry yet my turbo has not even arrived yet.

two more things. anyone have a link to the oring set and a link to they pipe manifold boots? I'm not paying $80 from ford. I looked at intake hoses . com and didn't see anything i would buy. i believe the hose is a 2,3/8 to a 2" or 2" opening and 2 n 3/8 inches long.

You need universal sockets .... 15 mm and 10 mm...... wobbly extensions also help.... The intakes are 2 1/2 I think.....I just bought 1 ft of silicone tubing from a HD truck place and cut them to fit ..it was like 30 bucks and I still have about 6 inches left......

I ended up bending my 15mm open end wrench in the vice with a hammer to almost 90 degrees to get one of the bolts. A couple of the bolts are a real PITA, no doubt. They just require lots of patience. I also used 10mm swivel socket for another one of the bolts.

Shallow works the best since there is not much clearance there between the up-pipe flange and transmission....

will do. I'll buy a good tool too, no chinese socket. i'll soak those nuts again, tighten the top 13mm bolts back down, and work on it when the tool arrives. only problem with bending the 15 is i can only use it on the driver side, i think the evbp will be in the way one it is bent. tried to get the evbp off and rounded out my only 8mm 12pt stubby wrench, so i cant remove that till i order a good quality one of those. i borrowed the rest of the tools from 3 different people and i give them back when i am done so i have to catch em all when i put it back together, this small town is tough when broke down and fixing something yourself with barely enough help.

5/16 and 8mm are interchangeable. I used a 15mm gear wrench on one of the flange bolts.

Engines are already in the frame when Ford drops the bodies on, it's up to mechanics to figure out how to get things done later.

Shaft play video

I got the turbo out, got the used one in and it seems to have a little play, is that normal?

Here is the video of my old turbo.
