While trying to track down my vibration problem that surfaced after putting in my SMFW (previous post) I found that the passenger side rear injector harness was fried. I fixed it using new international parts (thanks to BlueMule for posting the part numbers on 7/7/05) but still had the problem so I had the truck scanned. The contribution test showed all 8 injectors were good but the "buzz" test showed a fault with injector #5. Apparently that means that the screw under the solenoid has worked loose causing the injector to fire incorrectly. Question: How the heck do you tighten that screw? If it can't be tightened, how do you get it out to replace it? I ohmed all eight solenoids and found them all to be 3.6 ohms (except first injector, driver side which ohmed at 5.0) so I don't believe that the solenoid itself is the problem. Any input/advice/diagnosis would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Ok, my misunderstanding /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif So if injector #5 showed a fault during the buzz test that one would lead me to believe the solenoid is questionable...but if the solenoid was bad wouldn't that affect the contribution test? Also, wouldn't the resistance of the solenoid be high if it were bad? I'm a little confused /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

everything under the inj solenoid has nothing to do with a buzz test code. If there are codes found during the test then there is a problem in the electrical side of the system.

If the problem is on the electrical side of the system, where would one start troubleshooting? I was hoping to change the just solenoid but cannot seem to find it anywhere. Everyone that deals with powerstroke injectors only sells complete injectors. Should I start troubleshooting somewhere else? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
