Got a question ya'll. I'm deploying for 4 to 6 months and I need to know if there is anything special I need to do for my truck while it sits. My wife would drive it but she would tear the mirrors off trying to get the big bastard out of the garage. Does diesel fuel turn to varnish like gas? Should she at least start it occasionaly? Thanks in advance.

If she can drive it without wrecking it, this would be the best for it. Every couple of weeks, drive it long enough to get it up to operating temps. This would keep everything lubed and keep the seals from drying out. I would also add a fuel supplement with an algaecide in it.
Good luck and God's speed on your mission.

Multiple thing will help you out. The first advantage you have is inside storage. You need to top off all the fluids including fuel. Additives for the fuel are a must and I would fill it 97 percent full. Fill it to the top and drive it 40 or 50 miles and it should be good. If you want your tires to be in the best possible shape when you return you need to jack the truck up and set it on jack stands. If you don't they could develop flat spots. If you can find a desiccant bag to put inside the truck, it will keep it from mildewing. I would cover it with a cover made as a car/truck cover. California Car Cover has good covers and should have desiccant bags. They have several things that will help with extended storage. The correct cover will breath but keep the truck clean. By all means don't cover it with anything that wont breath, like plastic. It will ruin the paint. That should have you in pretty good shape when you return home.

Be safe.
