The original owner of my truck had a liner sprayed in back in 2000 and its worn out now. I want to give the bed a "cleaner" appearance by getting a new liner sprayed in. I was thinking of getting a gray color.

I have always thrown a sheet of plywood in my beds whether they are sprayed or not when hauling steel or anything that can scrape or gouge but I am thinking of a rubber mat once I get the bed sprayed.

On overnight road trips I usually just roll out a sleep pad and sleeping bag and sleep in the bed rather than get a hotel so I like the idea of the thicker Rhino lining.

I have also been thinking of having the lower 12" of my truck sprayed with a liner material to protect against rock chips (I have quite a few chips from gravel roads). Any thoughts on this appreciated.

Has anyone had negative experience with the Rhino and was it the result of the material or the "prep"? I reckon I will peel and scrape out the old liner before I take it in. Would you recommend I sand the bed and apply a primer befpre getting it sprayed?

Thank you for your responses. BTW, I live near Denver if anyone can suggest a shop.

The biggest thing I have heard on the spray in liners is the prep, it's very important to be done very well. Here is a good article on what you are thinking of. Also I have had friends get the lower part of their truck sprayed and hoods on jeeps it looks really cool and protects it. Also heard the colored liners suck as they fade and stain easily.

I have had both Rhino and line-X liners. Both seem to handle abuse well. The Rhino is a bit softer but things don't slide around as much as they do with the Line-X(both would suck to sleep on). I think both have UV protection. If I did a spray in again I would do the Rhino in the bed because of the sliding issue. I just got a new to me truck, think I might go with just a rubber mat no liner.
