I have a 99 7.3 with 278k miles and recently when i take off in the morning, the truck sputters for a very short time until i get on it and it clears up. currently only doing it in the morning but before i had a 93 cummins and it had the same symptoms but a bit worse. Any idea what the issue is?

first do you have a powerstroke capable scanner?

do you have anything to monitor the engine?

you will have to check for code and monitor ICP and IPR. you can do this with a powerstroke capable scanner. most of us use AE with ford pkg AUTOENGINUITY TOTAL FORD SCANTOOL BUNDLE SP03 '99-'16 - TOOLS/ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS

or torque pro app and 20$ wifi obd2 adaptor, this will monitor the ford PIDs but will not pull code

Check your oil level
Could it also be too thick of oil?

Like running a Dino 15W-40 in cold temps?

Just asking for my own curiousity...I don't know where or what the OP has going.

Thanks
