I am quite sure there is a way, the stacks would be solid to the bed, and the shell to, so no movement between them, there are all kinds of rubber grommet, seals available, and I DOUBT they get that hot up that high,,not positive though. Maybe carefully touch them up even with the cab top,, after a long run to see? (Your shell/bed inside would be nice and toasty warm though, with all the radiant heat off the pipes,,, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif)

[/ QUOTE ]haha ya you could save money heating your house and just throw a mattress in the back of the truck and sleep there, and maybe a camp stove and wireless tv to give it a homey feel.

That sounds ******* enough, I'd just suggest duct tape /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

Stops those pesky window drafts. Doubles for curtains. I suggest camo.

There was a member who did this. I remember seeing pics some time ago. The pipes flexed different than the shell so the hole needed to be about a 1/2" larger on all sides. I can't remember what he used for a seal but it was something creative. He had his coming out at the rear of the shell in one corner IIRC, but could be wrong. Looked pretty cool too, kinda like a wind up shaft on the back of a toy truck, lol!!!

I've tossed around the idea of a single stack, but would have to deal with the truck cap / topper as well (8-9 months a year). This is a mod which could look cool or goofy depending on how well it's done.

Once temps are determined on the stack, then you could decide on possible seals. I believe the best solution would be to double stack, which would keep temps on the outer stack cool. Then more options are available for rubber grommet seals.

The challenge would then come every time the Fiberglas cap was installed or removed. Lifting over stack would be slightly more difficult.

The Double stack also would allow you to install an (unseen) cap on the shorter inner pipe, protecting from rain & heavy show. The main pipe could be notched on the end so to allow exhaust to escape during idle without the clatter of the cap rattling open & closed.

Just a thought.

My stacks get way to hot to be putting any rubber around them. After driving around for just a couple minutes they are too hot to touch.

My stacks get real hot, cant tell ya the temp but i know after i run it for a while you cant hold your had on it for very long. I think there is a member here that has his running trough the shell but cant remember his name. I saw it when i was looking for pics before i bought my stacks.

I'll be clearer with the double stack theory, double wall stack is what I should have said. A 5" inside of a 7" pipe would keep the outer stack cooler.

The other nice side effect would be not having to worry about anything in the bed of my truck touching the hot stack.
