My 96 F350 7.3 Powerstroke With 155000 On It Started To Act Up About 2 Weeks Ago. The Engine Is Entirely Stock. The Truck Started Correctly As It Is Plugged In For Several Hours Before I Go To Work.it Started As I Said Then After About Two Minutes As I Was Driving Up A Slight Hill From My Driveway It Stopped Accelerating . It Bogged Down And Acted Like It Was Gelled Up. I Know This Situation From Other Equipment So I Presumed It Was The Filter. I Changed The Filter And The Fuel In The Bowl Was Light Green. The Can Looked Real Clean With No Dirt Or Water Visible. I Changed The Filter. Each Day Since Then When I Go To Leave After 2/3 Minutes It Does The Same. Boggs Down, No Accelerator Response. I Have To Play With It To Get It To Full Revs.once I Get It Up To Full Revs It Will Run Aok For The Rest Of The Day. The Next Time After Sitting Overnight The Same Thing.. I Have Switched To The Backup Tank And It Still Does The Same Thing. I Have Put In Additives And No Change. Any Help Will Be Very Much Appreciated. Thank You.

When you are trying to accelerate does it make a whooshing sound? It may be your exhaust back pressure valve on the turbo sticking. You can unplug the electrical hook up on it and see if it happens again. If it does you can leave it unplugged or disconnect the rod that closes the valve. It is used for cold weather warm up but it does cause problems down the road.

Thanks

Thanks To All The Posts Here I Was Able To Solve The Problem. The First Thing I Did Today Was Check The Oil....it Was Low. Lower Than I Ever Saw It. I Topped It Off Started Right Up And Runs Aok. I Will Have To Check The Level More Frequently. Any Suggestions For An Oil Leak Additive Would Be Appreciated.

You may not be "leaking" it at 155k if the injector o-rings are still original. Keep an eye on the oil level (and the ground). My o-rings let go at 175k and I used 8 quarts in 150 miles (it gets pumped into the fuel system (tanks) via the return line). Cheers!

Thanks Again For The Replys. As I Said It Is Running Ok Now. The Oil Was Low And Once I Topped It Off All Is Well. It Is Leaking Underneath But I Do Not Know Where. Any One Have A Good Leak Sealer I Can Add. I Have To Chang The Oil, Filter Soon And Would Like To Add It Then.

With the injectors running on the oil I wouldn't add any stop leak to the oil. It is a lot better to find the problem and fix it. A couple of common places for it to leak is the plugs on the back of the heads on the high pressure oil galleries, and the O rings on the oil cooler. If it is ithe injector O rings they really need to be replaced.
