I have traced my sloppy steering to the following.

The main steering linkage directly off of the pitman arm to the passenger wheel is warn and creating the problems I am having. It looks like an easy part to change as there are only two bolts to undo the entire link assembly. Do I go to Ford to get this part or NAPA or someone else? I figured Ford would be twice the price so I am asking.

What is the proper name for this part called?

from your diagram, the bad part is 3A130 and I was going to get the entire piece which would be 3A130, 3A131 and 3261

Thanks

Your confusing me because what you say in your first post your talking about the Drag link and then the next post your talking about the tie-rod. Drag link goes from the pitman arm at the steering gear to the passenger side and connects into the tie-rod. The tie-rod goes from wheel to wheel and has the hole just to the left where it connects to the right knuckle for the draglink to connect. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Both are 3 pieces...1-long,1-short and an adjusting sleeve

I need the same thing. My long is bent and the short is worn.

Sounds like the bunny cage was left open??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Honestly if you want Moog parts here are the part #'s. I can provide those as well but the Ford stuff is a hair cheaper.

DS1438 long
ES3427T Short
ES3426S Sleeve

If you really want these gimme a call and we can go over pricing on the Moog parts. Now if you want to go to Autozone and get the ones you have to shake the rice off of before you install them sure they will be cheaper but do you want to trust your life to saving $20-30 overall?

Here are the Ford #'s

4C3Z3304BB long
4C3Z3304BA short
4C3Z3281CA sleeve

Click here for pricing and ordering of the Ford parts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

I a going to jump in again,

How does the quality compair with the Ford OEM to the Moog?

I know they are both good but would one last any longer for some reason?

I plan to have my truck for a lot longer so I need to make it last.

Well in this case, both are quality greaseable parts. Sometimes the OEM will fail sooner if there isn't a grease zerk. I would say they are very comprable in quality, it just comes down to which brand you prefer. The Ford OEM pieces are warranted at any dealer for 1yr/12k miles, so that is a bonus for some.
