I've been lurking here for a while and finally signed up. My question is are parts from a sterling 10.25 single wheel compatable with the dually version of the same axle. I used the search function but didnt find much. My specific question is: can I use the hubs, drums, and shoes from a dullay axle on my single wheel truck to turn it into a dually? I'm not intersted in using the over priced and somewhat questionable dually spacers for this purpose. I can get the complete dually axle from a 96' f350 real cheap:$200 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif but I'm trying to avoid the super wide stance for everyday use as the truck is my daily driver and I tow only about 25% of the time. Thanks for any input, Carter

They are diff axels as far as I know. I had a 95 cc drw 2wd and they look alot bigger than the 10.25... but I have been mistaken before.

Well the semi floater and the full floater sterling 10.25 can swap parts. The centers are the same but the outers are different. like the diff carrier and ring and pinion are the same. so says randys ring and pinion.

Welcome to the site! Without changing the housing, the inner tires will hit the springs. I'm pretty sure the backing plates are different as well.

My 97 has been converted to a dually. The dually axle is wider than the single wheel axle. The spacers are required as mentioned to keep the wheels out of the springs and box. i would leave it single myself...tires cost to much /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

what about the axle from a cab and chassis? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

i think they are the shortest overall of the 3. may not work though because i think reg truck frames are wider. probably hard to find also.

keep this updated. i am interested. if i ever come across a clean long bed with dually fenders i am buying it and putting it on my truck. or i may just run dualls on a regular bed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
