What is the diameter of the stock downpipe and the rest of the exhaust tubing? Could I reduce EGT and get better performance by just changing out the muffler to a Magnaflow or other performance muffler? I have a 2004 F-350 6.0 that is stock for now but am interested in getting some inexpensive mods done.

Stock exhaust diameter?
I believe the downpipe is 3", the rest of the exhaust is 3.5". Some folks claim that deleting the muffler gives them good results. Others have installed a Walker BTM (big truck muffler) and are happy with the results. Then there are those who have installed new systems from front to back and are happy. Mine is still stock...

the stock DP is only 3" where the guys putting the truck together didn't hit it with a large hammer(AKA:motor fitter).. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
