Are any of you guys running the stock 3.5" stuff with the muffler deleted? How are your EGTs, did they drop? How is the sound, deafening?

i cant give you egt's, but the sound is nice. its loud when you get on it, but not much different from stock when under normal driving conditions. i like it, but unforunately had to put the muffler back on. (fiance didnt like all the noise...geuss i drive to fast /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

I staright piped mine before installing the 4" and it was fine. The EGT's only dropped about 50 or so. I little different note and slightly louder.

I hardly noticed a difference in overall tone after removing the muffler (cat still there). Slightly more turbo whine - wish it was more though.

The lack of a tailpipe right now makes things a little stinky when not moving. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

How is the sound from the cab while cruising or under load? I don't want it to drive me nuts, but wouldn't mind a little more whistle. I'd like to step up to a 4" setup, but the Mustang is sucking my pocket dry with the new motor at the machine shop /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I didn't notice any increase in volume in the cab. Really the only increase in volume was under heavy load, and not by much. Mostly the increase in the testicular fortitude sound. I got an increase in the whistle with new uninsulated boost tubes, and then even more with the new turbo. Did not notice an increase in whistle with the straight pipe.

[/ QUOTE ]i think they ment the turbo whistle coming out of the exhaust. man in side the truck with the windows up u cant even notice the difference

I would say I get anywhere from 50 to 100 degree drop in my EGT. Like these guys have said the only time you can really tell a difference is wide open throttle. On the highway with the cruise on and windows up there is no noticeable difference. I can hear a little more whistle when pulling too, but it's really that much louder then either unless you really have your foot in it. I say do it, I don't think you will regret it. Like someone else said here too, turn that "S" piece upside down and you have a straigh shot then to the rear piece.

If you can not afford an exhaust right now, it is a good option. There will be a decent drop in EGTs and performance will increase decently. (the stock DP is still a form of restriction, but a straight piped system will help.) I ran one for about 2 yrs on my early 99. (Killed the kitty too,, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif) Please don't call PITA either ok? (The ones against fur coats,,, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif)

i have 4 in with muffler delete, sounds really good, nice growl, turbo wines alot, but a couple of trucks around town have stock exhaust with muffler delete, it dont sound bad, it still rumbles, and it wines more than stock from what i could tell, but not as much or as loud as the 4 inch

I put the muffler on last week straight pipe was a little to loud and draws to many looks when she's pouring out black smoke, still loud less turbo noise and I think I'm legal with DOT

I have a 4in DP to a 5in straight pipe and i'd have it no other way
