Two questions:
Did the PSD trucks have the same front springs as the gassers?
What is the load rating for the stock springs on a 97 250 4x4 PSD?

I am in need of new front springs and I am looking at after market replacements. I want the equivalent load rating of stock springs. Any suggestions on where I can get a good price on good springs? J.C. Whitney has a good price and free shipping but I am a little nervous about quality of their items. I've gotten some good stuff from them and then some junk. Hard to tell what you'll get.

From what I've read years ago, they're the heaviest front springs Ford offered that'll bolt up to the TTB front ends, and heavier than the gassers.

I wouldn't trust springs from JCW.

See if you have a spring shop in your area and then have them check them out. I had mine re-arced and put in a add a leaf 7 years ago and no problems yet. I had a spring shop down in Grand Junction re-arch them for me. People say that putting in another leaf creates too harsh of a ride but I usually ask them if they bought a truck or a car. Trucks ride rough.
Did you get your shocks off the truck yet?

Jim,
Haven't gotten to the shocks. Working on the springs for now. I had full length add-a-leaves on the truck and it road like a lumber wagon. Wife complains every time we take it to the mountains. The short add-a-leaf I put on my 95 didn't ride nearly as bad. I took the add-a-leafs off and replaced them with air bags but the springs on one side are so weak it is lopsided by over two inches. 80 pounds in the bag won't level it. The other side seems to be right where it was when new. Maybe a re-arch would do the trick but they appear to have the same unloaded arch as the good side. Probably cheaper than new springs if it works.

I replaced mine with a full 3 leaf from STANDENS, they are a huge spring manufacturer and most spring shops deal with them. the 3 leaf is a full tapered 3 leaf like the OE. the 3 leaf is 400lb/ side greater capacity than the OE. mine rides "firmer", but more like a sports car and not a lumber truck.

this spring is not a 2+1, but all three engineered as a package.
